In the name of “New Year resolutions”, why can’t we bring significant change to our lives? Whether we want to exercise more so we can clear our minds of stress and anxiety or whether we want to write more (calling myself out here), why can’t we hold ourselves accountable to bring on real change in our lives? We neglect the practice, the hard work and the consistency required to bring on these changes. What it really comes down to is that we have all the motivation in the world but not a dash of self-discipline required to make the motivation even matter.

When we have a brilliant idea or burst of energy to create something we build up the motivation to start moving towards making this idea into a goal. Often we start plowing towards this goal right away. Since we subconsciously know that if we achieve this new goal it will bring us immense satisfaction in our life. But we abandon this idea and goal often times very quickly. Beginning to run again only to fall off because it’s too cold or you’re too busy. Or you want to cut down your caffeine intake only to fail the next morning because you’re way too tired to get through the day. I can go on and on with lists of examples. As a matter of fact, you’re probably thinking about a personal example…
